Enclosure volume and cut list calculator

Enter width, height, depth and panel thickness to get internal volume and cut list. The example uses a simple butt-joint build (top/bottom outside, sides between, front and back set in).

From volume to dimensions

The internal volume is (W − 2t) × (H − 2t) × (D − 2t). Braces, drivers, ports and crossover displace additional volume – the app subtracts that when designing.

Golden ratio?

A ratio like 1 : 1.6 : 0.9 (golden ratio or similar) spreads internal resonances. Avoid equal edge lengths.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate internal volume?

Subtract twice the panel thickness from each outer dimension and multiply: V = (W−2t)·(H−2t)·(D−2t).

Which panel thickness?

18–25 mm MDF or plywood are common; larger boxes or subwoofers benefit from bracing.

Does the calculator account for displacement?

No. The app accounts for drivers, port, braces and crossover in the design.
